Torah and the Dirty Woman

This essay grew out of a graduate seminar, where a young woman found herself the lone female voice among a room of newly Orthodox men debating whether she was fit to touch a Torah scroll. It's an essay about niddah, about the benefit of the doubt men extend to each other and withhold from women, and about the quiet, private way she got the last word.
